Oceanfront Condos in Sunny Isles Aventura
Several of the most prestigious condominium towers in Miami are in Aventura. The finest condominiums in Aventura offer both Intracoastal and ocean views. Aventura is located to the north of Downtown Miami, east of Miami’s main thoroughfare, Biscayne Boulevard. On the Intracoastal Waterway, not on the ocean, Aventura begins on the right side of Biscayne Boulevard at NE 175th Street, goes up to 215th Street and stretches east from Biscayne Boulevard just to the Waterway, which divides it from the communities of Sunny Isles and Golden Beach (north of Miami Beach) that sit on the Atlantic. The area was developed during the late 1970s and '80s as a high-rise residential area. With the opening of the Aventura Mall, the 5th largest in the country, in 1983, the enormous success of the Mall encouraged explosive growth in the area. “Aventura”, also the Spanish word for adventure, has a colorful history. Once a renowned boat-building area, Aventura is where the sleek and super-fast racing boats, shown on the intro. to “Miami Vice”, zoomed along the Intracoastal in what was dubbed “Thunder Row” (NE 188th Street). Here the “Cigarette” style racer was founded by powerboat builder Don Aranow. The adventure ended badly however, when in 1987, a rival boat builder, Ben Kramer, shot Aranow down just outside his office on Thunder Row. This area is now undergoing development and offers some of the nicest condos in Miami, including the architecturally impressive and futuristic "Artech".
In 1995, the City of Aventura was incorporated, and by 2006 U.S. Census estimates showed a population of 30,000. Known in Miami as a wealthy suburb, Aventura is also known for its substantial and diverse Jewish population with many Americans from the Northeast (New York, New Jersey, etc.), Aventura has also had an influx of Hispanic Jews (especially Mexican, Cuban, and Venezuelan), as well as Jewish immigrants from Brazil, France, Russia, Canada, and Israel. Reflecting the cultural diversity that makes life in South Florida so interesting, Aventura also boasts residents from Colombia, Cuba, and Romania.
Aventura offers residents free and fee courses for all age and a variety of activities at the Community Recreation Center. There are seven parks: Founders Park offering The SplashPad, Arthur I. Snyder Memorial Park, Veterans Park, Waterways Park , Waterways Dog Park, and the Don Soffer Exercise Trail a 3-mile lap around the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort Golf Course. The beauty of the area, excellent schools, and the affluent lifestyle attracts more residents each day and Aventura's future looks bright.
